Leatherworking Specialization Guide

Leatherworking Specialization Guide

Which Leatherworking Specialization is best in TBC?

Similiar to the Tailoring Specializations, Leatherworking also has some epic Sets that are specific to a respective Leatherworking specialization. Depending on your class and role, there is an optimal choice for this:

  • Resto Shamans, Resto & Balance Druids: Tribal
  • Rogues and Feral Druids: Elemental
  • Enhancement and Elemental Shamans: Dragonscale
  • Hunters: Elemental or Dragonscale.

Elemental Leatherworking

To learn this Specialization, you’ll need to do a Quest which will reward you with the trade skill once completed. Alliance players can get it from Sarah Tanner at [63,75] in the Searing Gorge. For Horde players, the Questgiver is Brumn Winterhoof at [28,45] in the Arathi Highlands.

Here’s what you’ll need to complete this quest:

  • 2x Globe of Water
  • 2x Heart of Fire
  • 2x Core of Earth
  • 2x Breath of Wind

Elemental Leatherworkers can craft and wear the Primal Intent, which is good for Rogue, Hunters and Feral Druids.

Dragonscale Leatherworking

In order to become a Dragonscale Specialist, you will need to complete a Quest called Dragonscale Leatherworking from Peter Galen at [37,65] in Azshara for Alliance player, or Thorkaf Dragoneye at [62,57] in the Badlands for the Horde.

To complete this quest, you will need:

  • 2x Tough Scorpid Breastplate
  • 2x Tough Scorpid Gloves
  • 10x Worn Dragonscale

Dragonscale Specialists can craft two epic sets, which are BoP: Netherscale Armor for Enhancement Shamans and Netherstrike Armor for Elemental Shamans.

Tribal Leatherworking

Tribal Leatherworking requires a bit more work than the other two specializations. You’ll need to complete a total of 7 quests. The quest givers are both in Feralas, Pratt McGrubben at [30,42] for the Alliance and Jangdor Swiftstrider at [74,42] for the Horde.

Here’s everything you will need for the quests:

  • 10x Thick Leather
  • 6x Thick Armor Kit
  • 8x Wildvine
  • 2x Turtle Scale Breastplate
  • 2x Turtle Scale Gloves
  • 2x Turtle Scale Helm
  • 2x Turtle Scale Bracers
  • 2x Nightscape Tunic
  • 2x Nightscape Headband
  • 2x Nightscape Pants
  • 2x Nightscape Boots

Once this quest line is done, and you get Master of the Wild Leather, you will be sent to your capital city to turn it in. After this, you can access the actual quest for the Specialization from these Trainers:

  • Alliance: Caryssia Moonhunter at [89,46] in Feralas
  • Horde: Se’Jib at [36,34] in Stranglethorn Vale
